Guidelines
- Notes move mostly by step
- Occasionally add a leap to add interest
- Follow (or don’t follow) the direction of guidetones (For example in major: Fa-Mi, Re-Do, Ti-Di, La-Sol)
- Pick one or two short rhythmic units, and repeat them
- Create two almost-the-same melodies of about 4 bars. Have one 4-bar unit end on NOT the home (anything other than Do in major or La in minor), and the second 4-bar unit end on HOME (Do in major, La in minor)
